Giving more visibility to our actions

The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development was created by Decree No. 2011/410 of December 9, 2011 organizing the Government. It is a materialization of the President of the Republic’s will, to give a new impetus to the Cameroonian industry and its mining sector, two major arguments for the revival of economic growth in Cameroon.

Therefore the responsibilities of this sector include developing, implementing and evaluating the industrial and mining policy, strategizing for technological development and intellectual property, standardization and quality in the different sectors of the national economy. The successful implementation of such a policy is not dependant on the only competence and the unilateral will of the State, although it’s role remains crucial.

The MINIMIDT fully supports the vision of Cameroon’s prosperity, dear to President Paul BIYA and has the ambition to promote increasing productivity and gain steady improvement of our natural resources and our raw material, a dual focus for us all in the quest to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

Thus, all our efforts should aim at developing of mining and geological resources, the diversifying and improving competitiveness of industrial sectors, upgrading technological innovations and industrial property assets; programs that will surely contribute , to the move towards "greater accomplishments."

The Head of State’s mention of the happy prospects that our sector is offering to our country, through various development projects, shows that this is no recreation time for us. It is a call on us all to be committed to the success of this collective undertaking. Unlike in the past, mining projects should be more considerable attention in view of their rapid implementation. In the industrial sector, we will pursue the development of the industrialization master plan, finalize the national investment promotion strategy and make more attractive the legal and regulatory framework as well as the technological development framework. Such measures are all needed in order to improve the competitiveness of the Cameroonian industry.

On the 18 April 2013, the Head of State enacted a law on the code of incentives for r private investment in the Republic of Cameroon. This revolutionary and ambitious law aims at improving the business environment in the country, and laying the groundwork for a more attractive investment policy. This law also materializes the Head of State’s constantly reiterated will to develop Cameroon, through the private sector. Such a policy can only be implemented by ensuring the security of investments and favorable business environment. This law strengthens our investment policy, offering a more attractive environment for companies wishing to establish in Cameroon.

All these efforts to lead our country towards emergence cannot be carried out without the support of both our domestic and international partners on whom we know we can count.
